The “Ensemble Col Basso” was founded in 1991 in Salzburg from members of the Mozarteum orchestra. The idea behind
“Col Basso” is to play chamber music with double bass in various instrumental configurations – from duet to octet. The ensemble’s repertoire is thereby extremely versatile and ranges from the baroque to contemporary commissioned works, especially written for the “Ensemble Col Basso”. The ensemble has achieved great success in many European and Japanese concert halls.
