They belong to a family with binding common interests and individual differences, in terms of playing style, mentality, and sound. After all, it would be a shame to lack distinctive character. The members of the quintet all earn their bread and butter at the same location – Vienna, however, in different world-renowned orchestras and ensembles. The first string to their bows is therefore not identical, but their second string has been known as mund.ART since summer 2000. The playing area is always checked meticulously, the grass mustn’t be worn down. The guarantors for this are composer friends from Vienna who know for which “Münder” they are writing for and that the tonal end-product should be innovative but not, heaven forbid, “dutiful”. All mund.ART members like to look at the big picture, and maintain a curious interest well beyond the ends of their own musical noses. This serves to expand their horizons, and together with a fusion with dance, puppet theatre and painting, guarantees excitement right to last beat.
