The folk music ensemble has its roots in the quintet founded by Tobi Reiser in 1953 with a configuration of zither, dulcimer, harp, guitar and double bass. Additions from the Salzburger Geigenmusik in the form of two violins, piccolo and harmonica created an ensemble which formed the heart of the famous Salzburger Adventsingen and which gained recognition by means of both national and international concerts. What was started by Tobi Reiser senior, was then continued seamlessly by his son. He enriched the programme with many new ideas. “Mozart and folk music”, “musical walks” through the town and countryside of Salzburg as well as extremely varied programmes, in which Reiser combines literature and music in his own inimitable style have become the trademark of the ensemble.
