The ensemble was founded for the “Austria- Jazz-Tage Vöcklabruck 1991”. Originally the quartet drew on Florian Bramböck’s rich treasure trove of composition. However, it wasn’t long before the other gentlemen started to compose and arrange in their own unique manner. Some pieces are developed directly in an improvised way by means of inputting short melodic motives or harmonic inputs. Their first CD, “Horns Astray”, came out in 1998, followed in 2000 by the CD “Lasst uns froho uhund munter sein” as part of a world tour. Numerous concert tours and crossover projects serve to demonstrate Saxofour's exciting musical understanding.
