The Ensemble Neue Streicher was founded in 1983 in Klosterneuburg and comprises of musicians from the Vienna Orchestra. The chamber orchestra has made an excellent name for itself during over 300 concerts in both the pure strings configuration as well as with the additional brass. In addition to the standard chamber orchestra repertoire, the musical focus is, on the one hand, seldom performed works of the past, and on the other hand, collaboration with young Austrian composers, which has lead to numerous inaugural performances for the ensemble. Participation at renowned festivals (Wiener Musiksommer, Zeitgenössischer Herbst, Grafenegger Advent, Oststeirischer Musiksommer ...) as well as a busy concert and touring schedule both nationally and internationally (Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, England, Italy, Mexico) have brought the orchestra excellent reviews. Numerous opera productions, radio recordings, LP and CD recordings as well as two television productions have served to showcase the Ensembles Neue Streicher’s varied range of operation.
