Goiserer Viergesang
Goiserer ViergesangTThe Goiserer Viergesang was created in 1968 by the singers Willi and Sepp Winterauer, Fritz Hillbrand and Lois Neuper. Their unique sound quickly became popular well beyond their homeland, and soon they were in demand for many events both nationally and internationally. This lead to four voices coming together, that harmonised so extraordinarily well, that scientists attempting to record the singers’ unknown songs and yodels had great difficulty in identifying the individual vocal lines. After the group had been in existence for 25 years Hillbrand Fritz, known as Toifl Fritz, was replaced by Klaus Neuper, the youngest son of Lois. Lois Neuper remarked: “The joy of singing, and of song must be audible in the voice, however the vocal quality also plays an extremely important role! Our gently varying yodels are characterised by their melodious harmony and by taking their time for each singer to find his sound and, ultimately, be fulfilled in accord. The secret of a good sound is to listen to each other and to merge kindred spirits.”
