Kegelstatt Trio
The famous “Kegelstatt Trio” is one of Mozart’s most humorous chamber music works. He also composed during his outings to the country. A report from 1786 hence reads: “When it was his turn, he stood up, took his go at the skittles, and as soon as he had finished, he resumed his work, without being disturbed by the chatter and laughter of those around him”.
You can imagine what occurred to him as the motif in the first movement:
The rolling of the ball, the scattering of the skittles, some of which fall slowly, the last during the hovering third of the viola, which increases the suspense. This trio opens a long, glittering “Mozart night” with detours to Johannes Brahms at the Ischl Leschetizky heights, and a piano marathon by the students of Professor Ayami Ikeba from the University of Music, Graz, featuring all the famous Mozart sonatas, garnished by hot rhythms from the Simone Kopmajer jazz quintet. The members of her band are all in demand throughout Europe, are renowned jazz musicians and know precisely how to make the most of her fantastic blues voice.
