Stradivari
and Goisern
You can also find traces of the famous Stradivari violin-maker in Goisern. Local historian Dr Michael Kurz discovered these connections at the famous violin-maker Daniel Achaz Stadlmann, who was born on 19.07.1680 in Au 13, the Steegwirt restaurant, Goisern.
He laid the foundations for one of the most famous violin-making traditions in the baroque period, which extended as far as the court orchestra of Joseph Haydn, after he had learned the art of violin-making from the great masters in Italy.
Benjamin Schmid is one of the most innovative violin virtuosi to have come from Austria. His great international career didn’t stop him from making musical excursions into the field of jazz along with Wolfgang Muthspiel or the legendary Stephane Grappelli. In Bad Goisern, accompanied by his “Lady Lady Jeanne” Stradivari from 1731 from the American Donald Kahn Institute, and the pianist Ariane Haering, he will be performing a selection of Mozart’s sonatas and Ravel’s impressions.
